Giving Back to the Community

At Dollar Tree, we strive to give back to our community, not only by offering quality products at an extreme value, but also by supporting efforts that improve the quality of life in the communities surrounding our corporate headquarters and our nine distribution centers. Through financial support, employee volunteering, and partnerships with our customers and non-profit organizations, we support causes that will have the greatest impact on these communities and the people who live there.

  • Dollar Tree supports Haiti earthquake relief. In response to the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake (and subsequent aftershocks) in Haiti, and on behalf of all our stores and associates, Dollar Tree has made a corporate contribution to the American Red Cross for Haiti Relief. If you would like to help, you can make a $10 cash donation to the American Red Cross by texting “Haiti” to 90999 from your cell phone.

  • Dollar Tree is a proud national Sponsor of Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides emergency assistance and morale for our troops, the families they leave behind, and for wounded warriors when they return home. During our 2009 National Toy Drive, Dollar Tree customers donated millions of toys to Operation Homefront. The toys were distributed at all U.S. military bases stateside, just in time for the holidays. Dollar Tree continues to support our troops and their families throughout the year with Easter basket drives, back-to-school supply collections, and emergency need collections. During our 2009 School Supply Drive, Dollar Tree collected 2 million school supplies nationwide and Operation Homefront was able to completely fill 17,000 backpacks. Dollar Tree also supports Operation Homefront's care package program for troops through a monetary donation which assists with mailing costs.

  • Dollar Tree continues to support “Growing Wetlands in the Classroom”, a project developed by Lynnhaven River NOW and the Elizabeth River Project. Funding provides the equipment, training, and support to area teachers and students to grow native grasses in their classrooms and transplant the grasses into different wetlands restoration areas throughout the region.

  • Dollar Tree is investing in tomorrow’s leaders through its contribution to the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges (VFIC) Brighter Futures Scholarship Program. Annually, the Dollar Tree Scholars Program provides academic scholarships for students with financial need and academic promise.
