Useful outside the kitchen too!
I use these little kitchen timers all over my house. I take one to work and keep an eye on how long I'm on break or lunch, I use several when I'm playing online games (to tell me when a certain amount of time has passed as time management is critical in one of the games I play) and I even use them when I'm cooking. The only problem I've found with these is that one of them had kinda low batteries when I got it, and now it's stopped working.

good - but no clip mount as advertised
I have been using these timers for years and the ones purchased recently have a "stand" back and not a "clip mount" back. They used to but not anymore??? Unfortunately the stand backs are not directly interchangeable with the clip backs. Replacement batteries are difficult to impossible to find so just buy a new timer and replace the old battery by unscrewing the battery plate with a jewelers screwdriver. I use the timers by clipping on my shirt to time a cooking event, a timed nap etc.

99 minute - 59 second countdown timer w/ battery
I use these a lot. I own 5. I like to set one by/on/near each thing I'm timing, especially while timing multiple tasks at once. Examples: tea steeping, frying pancakes, poaching/frying eggs, chilling things...
Pros:
∙ Digital display for precise timing.
∙ Small & somewhat compact.
∙ Easy to use.
∙ Remembers last time so that when time is up, I can press the start button to repeat it.
Cons:
∙ Difficult to read small screen from most angles.
∙ Some units' buttons don't work good. (poor quality control)

Love it but....
This timer is exactly what I need for helping students learn to hold a pencil correctly by adding a minute to each session that they are practicing. But......
How do you get the back open to activate the battery? I tried pulling the little plastic tab but no luck. I looked for the tiniest screwdriver I could find but it didn't work to open the back. Help!
